Communique No. 2 - Communication
Hi Everyone,
Just another short note.
Probably the most important thing that helps me keep things going smoothly at B.U.F.F. is for everyone to please reply quickly to game invitations. 99% of B.U.F.F. is pretty good about replying back and keeping me in the loop (and I greatly appreciate all of you), but once in while there are a few who leave me wondering if you dropped off the face of the earth.
This season I will be sending game invitations out with a two day reply time for the regulars (this is the first round of invitations). For subs I will also give two days. If you are not a regular (and you will know if you are a regular) if you are interested in staying on the active list, please be sure to check your email often and reply promptly. Subs that reply quickly, like in less than a day, usually earn a warm spot in my heart and often move up in the pecking order because I know I can count on them and they are showing me they are interested in playing. If players are too hard to contact I will eventually stop trying. Players that are habitually too slow to reply give me the impression they are not that interested in playing. I want players who want to play and are excited about playing. Yeah, I know, get a life.....
My goal is to have all of the replies received about a week before the actual gameday. This gives me time to mull over the rosters and make interesting, fair teams.
Sometimes people drop out at the last second and I have to find subs, so every extra day I get helps.
I know many of you have kids who have leagues, activities, etc. and sometimes you don't know their schedules yet. Sometimes you may have a trip upcoming or maybe you might have to work that weekend. If your plans are up in the air, please just email me back before the deadline and let me know you have something pending. I'll let you know if I can wait and then I can make back up plans just in case. What ever you do, please don't ignore me while I send multiple reminders to you and I start to think you are blowing me off.
One of our guys has three kids who all play on multiple sports teams and he always keeps me in the loop. And even better, he still finds a way to make most of the games. And I greatly appreciate his dedication to B.U.F.F..
Another of our guys has four kids, keeps me in the loop and makes most of the games. I appreciate him too.
Some of the guys have me include their wives in the email invitations. I appreciate them too.
After 12 seasons I know most everyone's email habits, like who replies quickly, who replies late, etc. I'm probably the only one here who doesn't have a smart phone, so there should be no reason you don't see your invitation right away. So, thank you all for helping me deal with my obsessive neuroses with B.U.F.F.. It is my own burden but your consideration helps me make a better product for everyone to enjoy.
And that makes me happy.
Thank you,
Park
