Communique No. 6 - There's no "I" in "Team"
Hi All, As the 2004 Detroit Pistons showed the Lakers, a good team that plays together will beat a team with bad chemistry even if they have a couple of stars. Throughout the season you will play on various teams. Some teams may be led by one of our Stars or Superstars and some teams may at first appear to be lacking bonafide Star power. As has always been my plan, every team is assembled with the tools to win. It is up to each team to come together with teamwork to bring out the best in that unit. All players need to put their own egos aside for the good of the team. If you're not winning, maybe you should ask yourself if you have done all you can to make your teammates better players. If you're a perimeter player, are you taking too many low percentage shots when you have a talented big working hard for position for a closer, higher percentage shot?If you're a big are you setting screens for your teammates or hitting cutters from the high and low posts? Are you making the extra pass to a teammate with an easier shot? Are you feeding the Big Dog who is guarding the yard? It's not about "getting my shots"....that attitude will get you put on waivers... We have some really good, smart point guards/forward running each franchise, follow their leads. Playing with teamwork is a lot funner way to play and your chances of winning are much higher. Have fun!
